Im opening a thread for VC2 Editing..any questions related to VC2 Editing ask them here...ill try my hardest to answer them in a timely fashion, as accurate and as clear as possible...

mate, i have some problems!
Finalize MP Mission doesnt work, you told me something about BF Creator? Well, i need a hand which is leading me for my first time using these programs, even in editor i was some kind of lost!
I am just in wish, see i have some imagine make a new map but i dont know how. I am really going to have a leader who explains me.
Something like: How to build rocks, Water something like that! And easy please, its 16 years old german here, i am not the very best in english man!
My map idea is ( even the fact that vc2 is dead... )
Map: Trail_Fight
Story: The US fought hard and conquered the rocks and the other side. A little VC Group is trying to stop their walk...
I imagine it starts a City Fight at the VC Base!
MODES: Capture the Flag, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, ( Hope that i can make coop )

Okay man! I downloaded the UMIC and it isnt so difficult as i thougt... But it asks me for scripts, and i dont know how it means with that? I tried out if it means the ,,scripts'' but they are in SCR and it searched *.s or so! Well... this is very nice programm but i need the scripts^^ Erm... I thougt i may download BF Creator and anything works then. But... it doesnt lol! I dont understand BF Creator! AAAAH CHAVEZ NEED YOUR HELP... edit: well, i got the scripts! didnt know i have to download them! but everything is cleared up! okay... but i need more lol... userprobs/def.ini! This i need! ...!!!!!

First you must compile the scripts...by placing the .c files for the soldiers, medics, etc in the Levels\\levelname\\data\\scenename\\scripts folder...also place the coop.c, ctf.c, etc in the Levels\\levelname\\data\\scenename\\scripts\\MP folder
Second do this IMPORTANT step...
Click tools --> Version preprocess --> recompile all scripts
The scripts must be located exactly as the default describes...
Levels\\levelname\\data\\scenename\\scripts\\MP\\levelname_coop
It is a .c file it is looking for... (example: Levels\\FRENCHROUTE\\DATA\\FRENCHROUTE_MP\\SCRIPTSFR\\MP\\frenchroute_coop.c )
When you select the .c file the ".c" will not appear in the directory box of the UMIC..but that is ok...
Next you will have to set the number of players to match the amount of respawn points in your map for each game mode...
Then you have to make the thumbnail picture for your map (in .bmp format) and place it in the directory it describes...if this directory doesnt exist, you must create the proper directory folder(s)
g\\mp\\modes\\thumb_COOP.bmp
Finally fill in the blanks of the UMIC: 1. Type in the mapname, 2. Select the path to the mapname.sco by clicking the folder, 3. Make sure the directory to the thumbnail is done the same..., 4. Type in your map description 5. Author 6. Generate the ID
Now the "Create User Map Ini File" button in the lower left will allow you to select it...
Go to your Levels\\Mapname folder and look over the newly created .ini file
More to come "Creating the .CBF and the .VC2M files with the BF creator"...(have to do household responsibilities with wife and kids)...
Actually you can get a jump on this if you use total commander and extract the files from each file format (of a map already made)...you will see how your file structure must be before using this tool...
Ill finish this later tonight or tomorrow...

AY caramba chavez, GJ! I'll do it after school, but there is something i dont understand! For the thumbail, duno how to do this! I mean shall i extract the CBF file to copy this in the g//... ?? for thumbanail you just take a screenshot (printscreen)from within the editor, (after you press F8--->F9)..put it into adobe photoshop (or equivalent) and convert it to .bmp format...
I have some VC2 scripts for unlimited Coop VC,...want them?
Have you done "respawn points group editor" before?...that is how you set the amount of respawn points for each game mode...(this is an option in the menus of the PteroEngine III editor)
When you customize the color of the respwn point it is there where you azzign the CTF scipt, Coop script, ATG script, etc...
The BF tool is basically going to recompile your scripts into the format you wish to convert the files...vc2m or .cbf...
The proper folder layout must be used...(If you use total commander and the WCX plugin you can extract the folder setup from any map in your VC2 maps folder and see how they set them up...
Ill make some tutorials on all of this soon for all to see...in the mean time try your best to do as i have mentioned,...learning is a bitch..but knowing is a bonus...

ay caramba that doesnt help me, sorry. With the screenshot i make asap. BF Creator, i dont understand it. I really need help there. Thx for coop scripts, but i like more to play ctf I extract the files atm with tc and wcx. help me with bf creator^^

Where do i get a plugin to load VC2 Files?
And can i use a newer version of 3Ds than 3Ds Max 7?

After you install the plugins to their correct file locations in 3dsmax...open 3dsmax and set the path to the PteroEngine Editor
Also this is what mine looked like after i browsed and selected the pten.exe ...
engine...C:\Program Files\Vietcong2\VC2Editor
scenes...C:\Program Files\Vietcong2\VC2Editor\VC2Editor\levels
models...C:\Program Files\Vietcong2\VC2Editor\VC2Editor\g
textures...C:\Program Files\Vietcong2\VC2Editor\VC2Editor\g\textures
You may need the gsh file which includes the shaders, if so, post message me (privately) with your email address and i will send it to you as gsh.rar from Chavez_US. I believe this file go into your Program files/Vietcong2/dev/engine folder...i could be wrong,...like is said...its been a while...

Ok, now that i'm nearly finished my map, there is only one little tiny thing that i can't understand... Every time i try to Host the server from the menu/ make a dedicated over lan, it crashes just when i can see where you can choose class and such. Pretty annoying got a clue?

Most of the time it is associated with the settings of the game
For instance, If you have the minimum time set for 60 and maximum time for 300 and the default for 30...that will crash it...
OR
If you setup the game for CTF and there arent any respawn points for CTF players in the map, or if you setup the game for ATG and didnt put any ATG spawn points in the map, or if you setup the game for Coop and you didnt assign scipts to a VC AI player that would do it as well...
My advice is to check your time parameters first...then if that doesn't solve the problem check respawn points for the different game modes...sometimes its just you setup the map for a 12 player game and accidentally placed 11 or 13 respawn points in the map...
I'll look into my files for a possible answer...

When i want to try the game through the edior it says, "There are some wrong graphic portals in the scene, please remove them as soon as possible"
What does this mean?
I've had the same problem before i just can't remember what the solution was...
