AGAIN NEED TO CHECK THE PROPER FOLDERS CONFIGURATION OF VC2EDITOR: time ago my old thread found the kind reply of Zybero, whio sent me his configuration.. but his configuration is a good idea but very particular and I need the standard one.
I asked to Ando and waiting his kind support, but post also here:
accordingly with README of Indiglow, my first configuration was: ...\Vietcong2\ini ...\Vietcong2\dev ...\Vietcong2\VC2Editor ...\Vietcong2\levels
with PTEN.EXE shortcut altered as "open with Vietcong2.EXE"
Lately, when applied 3dsMax plugins, Pterotools requested to. point to "ini folder into VC2Editor folder" otherwise doesn't work. So putting the ini folder inside, together with Pten.exe, 3dsMax works.. but in this way the Editor doesn't work: it cannot reach the "inisysmen_scaler.dat": so seems that "Pten.exe points to the ini folder in VC2 main dir".
I temporary created a double ini folder, identical, one inside and one outside the VC2Editor folder: but it is simply crazy and creating me a lot of problems.
Which is the better configuration?? many maps were created properly, I checked and uncompressed several vc2m and checked: which structure was used? PLEASE TELL ME YOUR WAY
A main dir\ini maindir\dev maindir\VC2Editor maindir\levels
B maindir\ini maindir\VC2Editor maindir\VC2Editor\dev maindir\VC2Editor\levels
C maindir\ini maindir\VC2Editor maindir\VC2Editor\dev maindir\VC2Editor\levels

addition: I have a strong worry.. my Vietcong2 is of course original DVD, but I cracked Vietcong2.exe to avoid to use the DVD to validate it.. might depend on the new exe? I don't think so, but..
I always rename the original executable and add the alternative, because it's boring to change disks everytime.. I can try with original exe and DVD.. even if guess it's useless test..

found an easy solution for 3dsMax: just add inside the 3ds Dir a folder containing VC2Editor with inside INI folder and rest. Then pointing there (../3dsMax/VC2Editor.. etc etc) the Ptero settings. In this way you can open 3ds correctly pointing to a Pten.exe and INI and do not need a second INI folder in Vietcong2 dir.
Two separated PTEN.exe: of course there is no direct link to Vietcong2 G in 3dsMax, but this is not so important
If someone has other suggestions.. welcome
