Hey Guyz, i've got a bad graphic problem ... everytime i take the sniper and try to aim i can see through different parts of the landscape .... if i see a vc then, i always try to shoot him but sometimes he's covered behind a tree or a rock and so i cannot hit him. DAMN -It's the same with the binoculars ... i can see through parts of the landscape. This is sometimes "nice", because i can see many enemies in the fiel and know their positions, but i don't want this kind of "wall-hack" because it is nerving me and the principe of the game is "lost" if u see all positions of the enemy! I've got: - Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 - 256 Mb DDR RAM - Athlon XP 2000+ with 1,68 GHz - ATI Radeon 9000 Series (64 MB -don't know if single or double-RAM!) - Can anyone help me with this problem, or has even heard about that? Thx, 7Up

I've had this experience on a Radeon 9100, and I would reccomend the opposite... Dowgrade your drivers...
Lower End ATI Radeons + New Catalyst Drivers + Vietcong = BAD
Downgrade your catalyst drivers. You're probably running catalyst 4 point something, right? You may have to downgrade to 3.10 or 3.9 or something. Remember to uninstall your current catalyst drivers before installing a previous version of catalyst. ATI has an uninstall utility and previous catalyst versions available on their site.
That's the only way I know of to fix this... Unless you get a new video card.
A side note: On the older versions of catalyst you may have to enable the W-buffer feature to prevent textures from being corrupted (rainbow coloured) after you use scopes or binoculars.

Hmm..... i think i'll try to downgrade the driver! -I don't know which driver i have got yet it's an ATI Driver from 02.2004 -thats the only information i got. I believe it's no catalyst driver ..... I tried out the Omega Driver some weeks ago! -It was a disaster: there was a kind of lagging when i tried to move a window on XP and the most of my games didn't even work! Since then one game doesn't work any more (Sacred), so i uninstalled it very quick. Its curious, because when i played vietcong the first time it worked properly ?! -The graphic problems appeared first some weeks after i finished the single-game !? But thanks for ur suggestions ... i'll try it out

ATI drivers are catalsyt drivers... That's just what they call them. Just like the nVidia drivers are called nForce drivers, etc. The latest driver catalyst driver is 4.10. I haven't tried that one, so I don't know if it is fixed in that one. Here are ATI's previous catalyst drivers for windows xp: www.ati.com/support/products/radeonwinxppreviousdrivers.htmlI'd try 3.10. I can't remember if any of the one's in 4 work for this game or not. Remember to uninstall previous drivers before trying new or previous drivers. Installing this type of driver will require a reboot.

I downloaded the Catalyst driver 4.1 several minutes ago and installed it! Now the system is as fast as Windows3.11 .... so it doesn't work -> Vietcong doesn't even start any more! Now im downloading an older catalyst driver .... one from your link twilight! Hope to get it working soon! -If not, i'm going to reinstall my old driver and try to live with my graphic problem .... DAMN, DAMN, DAMN !!!

Did your card not come with an installation cd? If it did and you have trouble with catalyst drivers from the ATI site, you may want to just reinstall the basic old drivers off the cd. They may not have ATI's newest tricks up their sleeves, but they should be more stable for your card. The newer catalyst drivers have negative effects on the older ATI cards. I'm pretty sure they don't even have the older cards in mind nowadays when they make new drivers...

OK!
-got it ! -Installed an earlier version of cataclyst 44mb from 29.09.2004 and now it works again but i think the graphic problem still appears ... didnt have the chance to take a sniper, but the binoculars still have those problems ! -Maybe it's a bug in my vietcong, but i cannot reinstall it, because i don't find the cd (have it from a friend!)
(Think anyway that the sniper is no good addition to the team .... )

That happens when I lag out and stay in-game sometimes. When my connection gets good again, I just see the foliage/ground and that's it. No gun, hands, anything is visible when that happens, but it doesn't happen often.

Catalyst driver from September 29th, 2004? That's a fairly recent driver, so it still wont work... Try Catalysts versions 3.10 or 3.9... The versions are on the left columns of the list of their older drivers...

hey Zeven before u downgrade ur com to a commador 64, have u considered updating ur mother board bios i mean if your card is old so is your mother board(possibly) is, the more recent graphic driver read me files explain this maybe u should try?! 9000 Ati series should work with all new catalyst drivers they are freakin made for the 9000 series for crying out loud! update your hardware other than your video card drivers downgrading sounds great but is only a temporary fix especialy if you want to buy and play umm new games in 2005 for example! this may solve!

I wouldn`t upgrade the bios .. you should try rolling back your video drivers .. and then if you can boost you voltage to your vid card (ALITTLE ) .. let me know if it works

Hey Guyz,
Dont have much time at the moment ... later i'll try to downgrade my drivers over again. But i wont update my bios, because if something goes wrong i can forget my motherboard. And i f i boost my graphic card voltage (dont even know if it works!) and something goes wrong there i have to buy a new one, but I dont have much money yet, so i couldn't afford a new one!
greetings 7Up
