My computer went down this past week and I had mentioned on the forum that I would check my config for vietcong to see what makes it any different. However, I forgot who asked and I need to know exactly what to look for... ( I also cant find the original thread)lol!

Um, are you thinking of my post in: eliteteamwork.proboards24.com/index.cgi?board=nco&action=display&thread=1098212248 Most people who would be too young to buy the mature version of Vietcong probably pirate it anyway. I don't see why it would be so hard to make a teen and mature version in North America. I have always found that using bloodpatches seems to mess up one thing or another and if it works for a while, eventually something will fuck up. Logically there has to be someway to get blood (and harsher profanity) using nothing but the registry... Unfortunately I haven't been able to figure it out. If anyone has a mature European version, I would be very grateful if they could look in their registry ("regedit" in the run dialogue box) and look ath their Vietcong settings. I'm interested in decimal values for: Distribution: Language: Main Version: Main Version Time: Marketing Line: With that information, I might be able to figure out how to trick the game engine into accessing the gore textures and profanity sound files, etc.... Is that what you're thinking of? |

When I opened the registry entry with notepad, some numbers at the end of some lines in parentheses were omitted. So I am typing in what I see when I open my registry to the vietcong entry:

Dude, let me first start by saying thank you, especially since the city light blood patch I had stopped working (thats what always happens, I guess the game catches on and fixes itself or something, anyway, the blood stopped, once again, so I'm bloodless...)
I compared your values with mine, I only noticed one difference, I made the change. Nothing happened... Looked it over again - changed something I missed, went into the game... Noticed that now my options for blood were "none, medium, and real"... Went into the game... YES!
You rock, udder, thanks a lot, man. It totally works! As far as my computer is concerned I am now running the version available in Europe!
I knew it was possible to do it through the registry, but I could never find any european registry values! Thanks a lot!
The only values I had to change was:
Main Version Time... and...
Marketing Line (the one I overlooked)...
You guys want something better then a blood patch, do this...

are you using the nocd crack? cause no changes were made to my game as I am using it
the file to edit freerider is under regedit

I haven't tested it long enough to see if I have vulgar language yet, so I guess stay tuned...
You do it the registry, freerider... STAR > RUN > regedit
No, I am not using a no-cd crack... Other people have told me they cant get it working either, so I'm going to have to experiment on my roommates computer to see if I missed a step...

However, when I went to change my roommates settings, we went to start the game and it didnt work. It turns out the marketing line went back to 1... I don't know why and I don't know how to stop it, it doesn't do it for me. I think this is the problem some of you might be running into. |

Ok, this is my theory...
I think the EXE is fixing the registry. The reason my EXE isnt fixing the registry, is because I downloaded a blood patch a long time ago (but shortly after I installed it, it stopped working, of couse, as all blood patches have for me)... That is the only reason I can think of that my marketing line doesn't change. That's the only thing I can think of that is done differently, other than the registry.

Hi Guys,
As you know my character is Hornster and he lets fly all the time. I do hear other people swearing from time to time especially if they have been shot. I don't know if anyone hears my cussing.
I am using Purple haze mature version and the nocd patch for 1.60. Had the pirated version to begin with but enjoyed the game so much went legal and bought the 4cd set.
I have also noticed that with most commands there are 4-5 variations which are selected at random. So if I ask for ammo I get a variety of calls.
